Disseminate info on govt policies, media officers told

LIMBANG: Workers in government-owned media organisations need to take part in development-oriented programmes to make the politics of development inspired by the chief minister to be a success.Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said yesterday as the government’s ‘ears and eyes’ they played an important role in disseminating accurate information about government policies to the people as wide as possible.

“It is your responsibility to disseminate information throughout the state regarding the government’s development agenda, policies and planning to the rakyat,” Tengah said.

He said this in his speech during the Family Day cum Q Award of the Information Department and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) here.

The minister’s speech was delivered by Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

RTM Sarawak director Abdul Jalani Mahmud, state Jasa deputy director Anwar Ardiman Syah Hanafi and Limbang Deputy Resident Steven Kalong were among those present.

Tengah reiterated that accurate dissemination of information to the people would accelerate the pace of development as planned by the government.

He also called civil servants to be IT-savvy in the challenging era of globalisation which gave rise to a borderless world in so far as the flow of information was concerned.

“Media people need to equip themselves with the latest technological skills to be effective in their job.

“What is important is we must constantly improve on our delivery system, especially with regard to the implementation of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE)-related development
