There were no injuries in the explosion, which occurred at about 2.30am, said Johor deputy police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman.

“We believe foul play is involved. The explosive devise was placed in the restaurant.

“The police forensic unit and the Chemistry Department are investigating the type of explosives used,” he told reporters here yesterday.

The renovation work on the restaurant, Stulang Corner, which is due to be reopened on Saturday is 80 per cent completed.

Jalaluddin said the police, which were alerted two hours later, had identified two or three suspects.

Meanwhile, Stulang Corner owner, who wants to be identified only as George, said the blast damaged the walls, ceiling and glass food display cases of the restaurant.

“Maybe some people envy me. I am spending about RM200,000 to renovate the restaurant,” he added. — Bernama
