Sabah eyes 30 pct women participation in decision making

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government is committed to achieve the 30 per cent participation of women at the policy-making level in the public sector, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.He said this included increasing women’s participation in politics, economy and social fields.

Musa said the government also hoped that the private sector would also do the same.

“I believe there are many capable and qualified women who can be promoted to meet the target,” he said in his speech at the opening of a women conference here yesterday.

The text of his speech was read by State Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun.

Musa said women should enhance their capacity and acquisition of knowledge as well as to develop as quality human capital with prospects and mentality to achieve excellence.

He also advised them to equip themselves with knowledge, to have confidence and self-identity so that they would continue to be respected.
