Take place of work into consideration: Masidi

KOTA KINABALU: Civil servants here were yesterday reminded to take into consideration the uniqueness of their workplace in delivering the government’s “1Malaysia: People First, Performance Now” message.Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said what was deemed suitable in Kuala Lumpur might not be relevant in Sabah.

“In the peninsula, for instance, there are only three major races, namely Malay, Chinese and Indians, but in Sabah, we have 32. So, it is difficult for us to say that ‘this’ equals to ‘this’.

“Hence, the officials concerned should ensure that all briefings and information delivered to the people have the right impact,” he said at the ministry’s monthly assembly here yesterday.

Masidi also said that the message delivered should be capable of changing the mindset and attitude of the people towards the government’s policies.

“This is because we don’t want the government to spend millions of ringgit for nothing just because these (relevant) officials failed to focus on the best way to deliver the message,” he added. — Bernama
