Bad drainage is said to be the reason for the one-to-two feet of flood water at Km 3 of the Sri Aman-Lingga road since Friday.

A motorist, who did not want to be identified, said the flood level may get higher if there it rains heavily in the next few days.

“I urge the relevant authorities to upgrade the drainage system, otherwise it will the Sri Aman-Lingga stretch will be rendered useless,” he said.

He said many people use the road everyday, and their daily routine would be disrupted if the road is not passable especially by smaller vehicles owned by the majority of the people.

A quick inspection of the stretch by Utusan Borneo yesterday however found that the flood water had receded although  it can easily turn bad if rains heavily to coincide with the high or King Tide.
