Kite-maker uses skill to help sell Malaysia

MACHANG: Despite his handicap, kite-maker Husmizi Ibrahim, is determined to use his skill to help sell Malaysia through his kites.Husmizi, 35, who is paralysed from the waist down following a road accident in Kuantan, Pahang 10 years ago, said his kites were now sold in several countries, including Scotland, China, England, Japan and Singapore.His kites attracted foreign buyers since three years ago after he won a national-level kite-making contest.

The kites were sold for between RM1,500 and RM6,000 each depending on the size and design.

“I’m grateful to be able to continue to earn a living despite my handicap,” said Husmizi, who also receives RM300 monthly from the Welfare Department. — Bernama
