Orchid Garden Coffee House sports new look

KUCHING: The Grand Margherita Hotel recently unveiled the brand new look of its main restaurant the Orchid Garden Coffee House.It was recently reopened after an extensive three-month renovation works.

In celebration of the successful renovation and the festive season, the hotel recently hosted a special buffet lunch to a total of 150 guests including its regulars, key associates from government, corporates, travel agents and children from the Salvation Army Children’s Home at the Orchid Garden.

The hotel marketing and communication manager Fiona Kho said Grand Margherita Hotel’s renovation programme will continue into the first half of 2010 with the refurbishment of some 139 guestrooms at its Serapi Wing.

“Comfortable and contemporary rooms with new facilities will be coming up next year,” she said when met during the lunch.

Kho also said that the hotel will hold an official opening of the renovated areas during the first quarter of year 2010 when the renovation work is all accomplished.
The renovation of the coffee house was part of a makeover programme for this hotel since its rebranding this year, which also involved the re-design and enhancement to the hotel’s public areas such as the lobby, Rajang Lobby Lounge, Sadong meeting room, restrooms and Business Centre.

All these were meant to reinforce That the Grand Margherita Hotel is amongst the city’s most well-established hotels. The Orchid Garden coffeehouse was a favourite meeting place for many Kuchingnites.

With its makeover, it is now more spacious and has a ‘sun-kisssed’ environment. The 150-seat venue allows diners to whet their appetites in a comfy yet chic ambience featuring contemporary furnishing, wooden panels and sheer glass treatment.

A key feature of this dining outlet is the expanded Show Kitchen, which now has more distinctive open kitchens, hence enabling patrons to dine amongst the live culinary action
creating an interactive restaurant experience.

As evident throughout the entire hotel’s renovation blueprint from the lobby to the Rajang Lobby Lounge, the Grand Margherita Hotel has heightened the advantage of its location by the Sarawak River through the wise use of floor-to-ceiling glass walls and
doors that sets off the scenic views of the poolside and river beautifully.

Renowned for its varied line-up of culinary offerings, the Orchid Garden Coffee House, under the command of executive Chef Ricky Kong, will continue to delight its patrons with great food promotions for months to come.

From now on, the coffee house provides buffet breakfast daily from 6 am to 10 am at the price of RM28++ per adult and half price per child from 4 to 12-year-old. From Sundays to Thursdays ala carte is for order. Orchid Garden Coffee House opens daily from 6 am to 11 pm.

Starting next year, the hotel offers buffet dinner on Fridays and Saturdays  from 7 pm to 10 pm. On Fridays, the hotel provides international seafood courses and Saturdays there  is an international barbeque, priced at RM79++ for adults and half the price for children. The coffee house will also launch a new ala carte menu in Jan 2010.

Similarly at its sister hotel, the Riverside Majestic will also commence its renovations in January 2010 covering the lobby, lobby lounge and Café Majestic.
