Grand celebration for former reporter’s wedding

KUCHING: Former  Borneo Post reporter Leyana Talif and her husband Azrin Ali had a grand reception on Sunday to mark their marriage.Guests enjoyed a sumptuous eight-course meal and a glittering event.

Leyana, 26, now a businesswoman, is the eldest daughter of Planning and Resource Management Ministry Acting Permanent Secretary Datu Len Talif and Datin Asiah Awai. Len is also Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) managing director and chief executive officer as well as Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) director.

The 25-year-old groom, an engineer with Halliburton Energy Services in Miri, is the youngest child and only son of former SMK Kidurong principal Ali Sarbani and former Lodge School teacher Kadariah Maleng. Both parents are now retired.

The ceremony saw the couple, dressed in white, walking under a floral arch and sitting on a stage fit for royalty.

Prayers were recited and the ‘tepung tawar’ ceremony was performed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker and Santubong MP Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife, Datin Feona Junaidi; followed by the couple’s parents, and other guests.

This was followed by the cake cutting ceremony, whereby bride and groom fed each other.
