Former Jasin CIMB Bank manager charged with corruption

MELAKA: A former manager of CIMB Bank’s Jasin branch pleaded not guilty in the Session Court here yesterday to receiving a RM500 bribe, two years ago.

Mokhtar Ali, 53, from Taman Peringgit Jaya here, is alleged to have received the bribe on April 23 2008 from Ramli Meirad, 32, to facilitate the opening of a current account in view of the customer allegedly being placed on the blacklist.

Mokhtar, who now operates a food outlet, was represented by counsel, Azrul Zulkifli Stork.

Judge Elesabet Paya Wan set three days from May 7 for the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohtar Sani from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
