MIRI: The Barisan Nasional (BN) concept safeguards the interests of all communities in the state and country.Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Lambir deputy chairman Julani Moktar said for this reason, rural folk need to continue supporting the state BN to enable the party to fully implement development projects in their area.
He said this has ensured fair distribution of development funds and the successful implementation of projects.
“The BN government has provided sincere and visionary leadership in building a progressive and united multiracial society and the government never neglects the people, including the rural folk,” he said during a recent New Year celebration with residents of four longhouses at Bukit Kisi, Peninjau.
According to Julani, in Malaysia today, no community should feel left out or neglected by the government, as democracy had been adapted to suit the local situation very well.
“The BN government has brought tremendous development, unity and harmony in the country with the support of the people,” he said.
Under the wise leadership of Chief Minister Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud, he said, the state has developed rapidly and the people, including those living in rural areas, have enjoyed the fruits of this success.
Julani called on longhouse folk to join the mainstream of development by participating in all activities, programmes and development projects which benefited them.
During the function, he presented cash education incentives to students and pupils from the longhouse who excelled in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).
Activities held during the function included sukan rakyat, Poco-Poco dance, karaoke and Ngajat.
This was the first such programme to be jointly held by the four longhouses.
