They are now staying at the evacuation centre at SJK Chung Hua Pantu, near here until the flood recedes and the situation returns to normal.

According to several residents, the water level as of yesterday was estimated at about one metre high.

They also said the flood waters have been rising ever since the continuous downpour late Monday.

“The heavy downpour has led to Sungai Pantu to burst and inundate our houses.

“Though it seemed that the water had receded to about one metre in some places in our village, we were advised to stay at this evacuation centre until the situation is back to normal,” said a resident.

The resident added they were informed of possible rain in the next few days and this was based on the weather forecast released by government agencies.

In the meantime, their stay at the evacuation centre is monitored and taken care of by personnel from the relevant government agencies.

Food aid have been distributed.

Last year, floods also hit this village which is located near the Sungai Pantu.
