KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department will get a bigger allocation under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.He said this would enable more fire stations to be built as the 20 stations available now was not enough for a state as big as Sabah.

“We are aware that a lot of places in Sabah do not have a fire station nearby and this is something the ministry intends to tackle in the 10th Malaysia Plan.

But this is still in the planning process,” he told reporters after opening the State Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters Complex here yesterday.

He added that the State Fire and Rescue Department’s four projects, including the headquarters complex, under the Ninth Malaysia Plan, worth a total of RM75 million, were implemented ahead of schedule. — Bernama
