They were the ninth and 10th recipients since the company started its community support programme.

“We realise that there are many less fortunate persons in our society that need financial assistance to overcome difficulties in life. They include orphans, homeless, elderly, single parents, people with illnesses and those who are physically disabled,” said Magnum East Malaysia regional manager Liew Kee Chuan.

“This initiative together with the community’s active support will help them to overcome such challenges,” he added.

Magnum presented RM2,900 each to Lai Ah Poon and the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS), which was received by SCCS social worker Nancy Serimathi.

Liew said a donation drive was conducted for one month, whereby 15 Magnum outlets set up donation boxes in their respective outlets for Lai Ah Poon.

The amount collected from the public amounted to RM1,900 and the Magnum Foundation contributed another RM1,000, bringing the total to RM2,900.

As for SCCS, 16 donation boxes were set up at various outlets and the donation drive managed to collect RM1,900.

The Magnum Foundation also contributed another RM1,000, which brought the total to RM2,900 as well.

The fundraising initiative involved Magnum outlets in Kuching South, Kuching North and Padawan.

By inviting the public to participate, Magnum hopes to spread the ‘Magnum Cares’ spirit to all Malaysians in promoting a more caring and loving society.

Also present at the handing over of funds were Magnum operation officer Nancy Henry and outlet proprietor Ivy Lim.
