The students, aged between 13 and 16, and their teachers participated in a two-week programme called ‘Learning English Is Fun’.

The programme is a special package jointly organised by Santubong Homestay and the Malaysian-Korean (Mal-Kor) Student Exchange Association.

Santubong Homestay coordinator Jamilah Shukri said throughout the two-week period, the students were required to attend a three-hour English class daily.

To add fun to the programme, the students also participated in activities such as traditional dance classes, beach soccer, telematch, beach-side picnic and camping.

The group also had the opportunity to experience and participate in a mock traditional Malay wedding.

To fulfil their 20-hour Community Involvement Programme (CIP), the students also visited the Laila Taib Orphanage and Rumah Seri Kenangan, as well as helped to clean Santubong Beach.

Santubong Homestay is expected to receive another group from Korea under the ‘Learning English Is Fun’ programme next month. Last year, Santubong Homestay hosted almost 2,000 local and international guests, comprising walk-ins and group tours.
