Muhyiddin to make two-day official visit to Miri, Bintulu

MIRI: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will make a two-day working visit to Miri and Bintulu from Jan 21.Deputy State Secretary Datu Ose Murang, who chaired the preparation meeting on the visit yesterday, said among the objectives of the visit were to have a firsthand look at various government development projects in the two divisions and to meet the locals.

In Miri, the deputy prime minister will visit Tutoh Apoh Secondary School in Long Panai in the interior of Baram which is frequently affected by flood.

He is expected to announce immediate solution to the problems, Ose said, adding that at noon, Muhyiddin would meet members of the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry during a luncheon before declaring open the newly completed Kampung Bakam Primary School.

Muhyiddin and   Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud will be the guests of honour at an all community dinner to be held at a leading hotel here.

On the next day, the deputy prime minister will fly to Sungai Asap in Belaga to launch the mobile unit of the National Registration Department, and also hand over Mykad and birth certificates to successful applicants.

Those in the area who have applied for such documents in the past are urged to collect them at the said function.

The department will also open up registration counters two days before the function to receive applications on the various documents.

Muhyiddin will later proceed to Bintulu for the Friday prayers and then for lunch with the local community at the Divisional Mosque before departing for Kuala Lumpur.
