In the final today, Chong Wei will face Danish Master Peter Gade Christensen who overcame another Chinese player, Chen Long 21-13, 10-21, 21-17 in the other semi-final.

With his nemesis Lin Dan absent from the championships, Chong Wei’s straight sets victory in 37 minutes paved the way for the Malaysian to take a major step towards earning a slice of the RM1.02 million (US$300,000) total prize money offered.

Meanwhile, Chen Long dragged Gade, 33, into a deciding set before bowing to the experience of the Danish star in 62 minutes.

But though the energy sapping semi-final may takes its toll on the ageing Gade, matches involving Chong Wei and the Danish ace had always been exciting. — Bernama
