Police need to work with ex-cops to enhance quality of force: CP

KOTA KINABALU: There is a dire need for the police to work with former police officers to improve the quality of the force, accor­ding to State Com­missioner of Police Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim.Noor Rashid said this working relationship was vital as former policemen had the experience and ideas on to improve the force.

“Apart from enhancing the quality of the force, the working relationship will also help improve public perception of our personnel.

“We cannot afford to work on our own, we need to co-operate.

“If we want to improve our work performance, in an effort to improve public perception of the police, we need to consider the views of the community on the duties that we are assigned to do,” he said this during a courtesy call by Malaysia Ex-Police Association and State Ex-Police Association at the State Police Head­quarters in Kepayan, here yesterday.

Also present were State Deputy Commissioner Police, Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Ghani, Malaysia Ex-Police Association Presi-dent Shafie Bakri and State Ex-Police Association Chairman Abdul Rahman Teoh.

Meanwhile, Noor Rashid said ex-policemen and policewomen must be recognised for their services and sacrifices during their service in safeguarding the safety of the people and the country.

The ex-police personnel’s sacrifices were the reason Malaysians live in harmony, he said.
