KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday witnessed the simultaneous signing of memorandums of understanding between Felda and seven agencies which are involved in the National Food Storehouse Programme to be implemented by Felda.

The agencies include the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) for the marketing of agricultural products, and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) which, together with the Agriculture Department, will carry out research and development in the agricultural sector.
Other agencies are the Fisheries Department in the tilapia project development, Veterinary Services Department in the production of cattle, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in the seaweed research and Malaysia Agrifood Corporation Berhad (MAFC) in the rock melon fertigation farming.
Felda was represented by its general manager Datuk Dzulkifli Abd Wahab, UMS by its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kamaruzaman Ampon and MAFC by its chief executive officer Azizi Meor Ngah.
Fama, Mardi, Agriculture Department, Fisheries Department and Veterinary Services Department were represented by their respective directors-general Datuk Mohamed Shariff Abd Aziz, Datuk Dr Abd Shukor Abd Rahman, Datuk Roseley Khalid, Datuk Junaidi Che Ayub and Datuk Dr Abd Aziz Jamaluddin.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry’s deputy secretary-general Datuk Mohd Hashim Abdullah and Felda chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor. — Bernama
