KUALA TERENGGANU: A 17-year-old student was found drowned at the Pandak Beach, Chendering here at 11.20am yesterday.Yus Effendi Yusof from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sultan Mansor was reported missing while bathing with three friends at the beach at 5.30pm yesterday.
Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Zamri Shamsuddin said the body was found floating by a search and rescue team not far from where he was reported missing.
He said the victim, who was from Kampung Surau Haji Daud, Bukit Payong here, was believed to have been swept away by high waves while his friends managed to swim to safety.
The police, firemen and Civil Defence Department personnel took part in the search and rescue operation. — Bernama
