KOTA KINABALU: An early morning fire almost destroyed the Safma building, located at the central market here yesterday.The early morning fire, started from inside the Safma building also did not deter fishmongers from their daily morning routine.
Safma general manager Dzulkefli Safar said he received a call from his workers and immediately rushed to the scene, from Papar, to see the situation.
“We believe the fire started around 2.10am from the first floor of the building.
The cost of the fire total lost is still under investigation but thanks god no casualties were reported,” he said.
The Safma building which became operational 20 years ago used to be an office is now a cold storage.
