MELAKA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the 1Malaysia vision is not affected by the statement made by his former special officer Datuk Nasir Safar. He said the statement did not reflect his views nor those of the government.

“The statement is not in any way a reflection of my stand,” he told a news conference after meeting Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders at Seri Bendahara, the official residence of Melaka Chief Minister, here yesterday.

He also believed that the incident would serve as a lesson for all.  Nasir was said to have made racist remarks during a 1Malaysia seminar here on Tuesday.

Najib said Nasir had expressed regret and apologised over the remark.

He had also taken the responsibility to resign despite the fact that last year he delivered 60 ceramah without any problem, Najib said.

“He has owned up to it and therefore decided to resign. He is no longer my special officer,” Najib said, adding that he received Nasir’s resignation letter Wednesday.  Asked whether Nasir would be investigated under the Sedition Act 1948 following the statement, Najib said it was up to the authority to decide.— Bernama
