SIBU:  A 31-year-old woman suffered bruises on her right eye and injuries on the right side of the chest after she was allegedly assaulted by a man over a misunderstanding. It occurred at a house in Brooke Drive on Thursday afternoon at about 1.30pm.

The man had allegedly threatened to kill her during the assault.

The assault was apparently over a picture message she had supposed sent to her colleague, a close friend of the man.

According to her, the man had earlier arrived at her office at Upper Lanang to look for her colleague at about 12.30pm on Thursday.

“My colleague later invited me to join them for lunch which I obliged,” she told The Borneo Post at the office here accompanied by her husband yesterday morning.

She said they were taken for a ride before ending up at the cemetery at Jalan Tun Zaidi. While there, the man took out a few joss sticks and demanded she swear she was not involved in the sending of the picture message to his lady companion.

After a while, the man changed his mind, she said.

“Instead, he brought us to a house in Brooke Drive and it was there the assault took place,” she claimed.

Upon entering the house, the man locked the door and told her to sit on a chair.

“He passed a paper and a pen to me and demanded that I draw a picture of the message I allegedly sent my colleague. I told him that I never sent any picture message as my handphone does not have that function.

“However, I admitted that I did send a text message to her.  The text message had been forwarded to me by my friend and I thought it would not do any harm to send it to my colleague.”

She said when she refused to admit sending the picture message, the man grabbed hold of the electrical mosquito racket and hit her face, injuring it.

“After that, he grabbed my shirt and pulled the strap of my bra until it snapped before assaulting me, causing further injuries to my chest.”

She claimed the man even took out a samurai sword and swung it in front of her face, threatening to kill her if she refused to admit.

After a while, the man cooled down after her colleague pleaded to him to take them back to the office.

The victim lodged a police report while accompanied by her husband.
