Free medical service drive attracts foreign physicians

KUCHING: Chinese physicians from around the globe participated in a free medical service drive that was held on March 27 in conjunction with the Sarawak Chinese Physicians Association 12th anniversary celebration.Sarawak Chinese Physicians’ Association chairman Then Shui Ted said that the association’s objective is to promote traditional Chinese medicine and welfare activities.

Citing the free medical service, Then said the association had invited physicians from Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, Brunei and locally to participate in the event.

“We aim to help the needy from different racial and religious backgrounds. We believe in giving back to the society,” he said.

The drive attracted over 200 individuals from Kuching, Serian, Matang and Bau who received free medical check-ups and Chinese medicine.

Also present during the event were Padawan Municipal Council chairman Tan Joo Phoi, Sarawak Chinese Physicians’ Association president Ho Kheng Fook, honorable advisor Kapitan Wong Yuk Siong and Kapitan Chai Yong Liang.
