Promoting homestay, rail tourism in S’pore

SINGAPORE: Tourism Malaysia’s Singapore office yesterday launched its web page in the social media network Facebook and a new information kiosk at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station here.Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Md Hussin Nayan officiated at the launching of the Facebook page (search Tourism Malaysia – S’pore) and kiosk, aimed at further promoting Malaysia to the Singapore tourist market.

Tourism Malaysia’s Singapore director Zalizam Zakaria said apart from disseminating information, the kiosk, built in the shape of a Malay traditional house in the main hall of the station, would also showcase the lifestyles of homestay living.

He said Tourism Malaysia, with the cooperation of Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) would be promoting to Singaporeans to travel to popular tourist destinations in the peninsular by rail using the KTM train services.

Meanwhile, Md Nayan said the kiosk would be beneficial to Singaporeans as it would provide all information on over 2,800 homestay operators in 142 villages and other attractions in the country. — Bernama
