Ministry to enforce cleanliness by-laws strictly

TAWAU: The Local Government and Housing Ministry is enforcing the by-laws and regulations strictly to ensure all the towns in the state are clean.Its minister, Datuk Hajiji Bin Hj Noor, therefore urged the people to maintain the cleanliness and beautification of Tawau.

“I hope all the Tawau residents would keep the district clean so that they can live a healthy lifestyle,” he said at the launching of a mouse eradication campaign and children drawing competition at Sabindo here yesterday morning.

Hajiji’s speech was delivered by Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.

Tawau Municipal Council president Ismail Mayakob said the council had provided 16 Roll n Roll garbage bins at different locations in the township and residential areas.

“I urge the people to cooperate by taking care of the cleanliness and beautification of Tawau district,” he said.

Ismail added the Rotary Club of Tawau had installed mouse catching equipment at 41 places here and TMC would collect and destroy the mice.

Meanwhile, KFC (Sabah) Sdn Bhd in Giant Hypermarket, KFC at Jalan Masjid, KFC at Empire Building, Jalan Habib Hussin and Far Falle restaurant at BaZhong Commercial Centre were awarded as Grade A food premises in the premises cleanliness competition.

Also present were TMC vice president Tai Yun Wu, Sebatik assemblyman Muis Picho and Tanjung Batu assemblywoman Datuk Hamisa Samat.
