SIBU: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin yesterday bestowed state awards and medals to 118 persons during an investiture ceremony held at the Dewan Suarah Sibu.Heading the list of recipients was Abang Amir Abang Latip, a businessman and secretary of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Nangka branch, and Jantan Besi, a former pemanca from Machan, Kanowit who received the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS).
Alex Ting Kuang Kuo @ Ting Kwang Kuo, an engineer cum valuer with Ting Holding Sdn Bhd, Kuching was the sole recipient of the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK) and Daniel Wong Park Ing, general manager of Sibu Water Board received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC).
Six were presented the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) award.
They are Cr Annuar Bai, Edmund Erong Temengong Jugah, Kapitan Lau Nai Ting, Simon Wong Koh Ing, Sng Chee Eng and Temenggong Tioh Ali.
Nine received the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK).
They were State Chief Imam Ustaz Mohd Jorji Suhaili, Abang Othman Abang Fata, secretary of Dewan Undangan Negeri, Boniface Anat Litis, Daniel Supit, Detta Samen, Joseph Wei How Kiong, Junaidi Sahadan, Pelangi Dato and Teo Song Cheok.
Alice Jawan Empaling, deputy general manager of Sibu Water Board, Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, Sarikei District Officer, Pathi Kerni, Deputy Resident Betong, Philip Peter Salam, Deputy Resident Mukah, Wong See Meng, Sibu District Officer, Stephen Tan Ming Kiong, principal of SMK Tiong Hin,Sibu, Ting Sing Kwong, Sibu Divisional Drainage and Irrigation Department Engineer, Walter Lamat Kiyai, Sri Aman District Education Officer, and Wan Mohamad Madehi Wan Ali from Institut Pelajaran Guru Kampus Rajang, Bintangor are among those awarded the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB)
Meanwhile, 27 others were awarded the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), 15, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK), 20, Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) and 28, Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
Among those present during the ceremony were the wife of the Head of State Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah, Minister of Land Development Dato Sri James Masing, Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, Nangka assemblyman Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah, Deputy State Secretary, Datu Ose Murang and Resident of Sibu Division Sim Kok Kee.
