KUCHING: As expected, the top four rugby schools here will be meeting each other in the semi-finals of the Sarawak Schools Sports Council Under-12, -15 and -18 tournament held at the Song Kheng Hai field today.SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab (SHOAW), Kolej DPAH Abdillah, SM Sains Kuching and SMK Asajaya all breezed through their respective group preliminaries with ease.
SHOAW took charge of Group C defeating SMK St Joseph 48-0.
In Group A, Kolej beat SMK Sg Tapang 48-0 while in Group B, Sains saw off SMK Wira Penrissen 41-0.
SHOAW will face Asajaya while Kolej will go toe to toe with Sains in today’s semi-finals.
In the U-18 Inter-Division tournament, Miri went down to Samarahan 54-5.
The match between arch-rivals Sibu and Kuching ended with the latter winning a massive 67-0.
With the win, Kuching will play Samarahan in the final tomorrow at 3pm while the third-fourth between Sibu and Miri will be played today.
The U-15 third-fourth game will also be decided today.
Selected players from the U-18 and -12 will be representing Sarawak in the MSSM tournament in Kelantan from June 7-12.
As for the U-15, first and second fnishers will also be representing the state to the Malaysian Rugby Union-Milo Nationals.
