KUCHING: A housewife lodged a police report claiming she was robbed and nearly raped by an unknown man at a workers’ quarters on Monday.The incident happened around 3.30pm in Hui Sing Garden here when the 20-something woman was approached by the man while she was alone in the quarters.
She said the man pretended to look for her husband — who was at work at the time — when he suddenly pulled out a sharp weapon and demanded for her gold bracelet.
Fearing for her safety, the housewife surrendered the bracelet to the man, who then shoved her to the floor and forced himself on her.
However, he soon fled the scene on a motorcycle when the woman’s screams for help apparently attracted the attention of several other tenants at the quarters.
She lodged a police report later the same night.
In an unrelated incident, a welder was made RM700 poorer after he was robbed by four unidentified men Tuesday night.
The incident happened in Demak Laut around 8.30pm when the 25-year-old victim and his young son were confronted by the men while walking to a nearby shop.
The men, who were each riding a motorcycle, surrounded the welder and knocked him to the ground before relieving him of his wallet and fleeing the scene.
He was not hurt in the incident and immediately lodged a police report.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a young dating couple lost a handphone after they were robbed by knife-wielding men near the Masja complex in Petra Jaya here on Tuesday.
The teenage couple was on a motorcycle ride through the area around 8.45pm when they found themselves blocked off by two other bikes ridden by three unknown men.
The robbers then brandished two sharp weapons at the victims before rummaging through their possessions in the motorcycle’s basket.
The teens, who immediately lodged a police report after the incident, were fortunately left unharmed as the robbers left the scene after taking a handphone.
Police are investigating the incident.
