Pizza Hut spends RM2 mln on advertising and promotion costs

KUCHING: Pizza Hut is spending more than RM2 million on advertising and promotion (A&P) inclusive of television and radio commercials, print advertisements, and online ads via Yahoo!, MSN and Facebook and this is expected to drive its system wide sales up by about 25 per cent during the ‘Fish King Pizza’ promotion period.“Pizza Hut believes that its unique new Fish King Pizza will be a hit with its regular customers and also attract new customers,” said QSR Brand Bhd managing director Jamaludin Md Ali, the operator of Pizza Hut during the launching at Petaling Jaya yesterday.

He added that the restaurant’s current strategy was to continue to sustain their existing product offerings and introduce new products that focus on innovative and unique pizzas which everyone can enjoy from time-to-time.

Pizza Hut is currently the biggest pizza restaurant chain in Malaysia with 213 outlets offering dine-in, takeaway, delivery and online ordering services and more restaurants are being planned.

QSR is the franchisee for Pizza Hut, the number one pizza chain in Malaysia and Singapore, with more than 260 restaurants in the two countries, as well as the KFC chain in Cambodia.

QSR Group registered revenue of RM2,760.3 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2009, representing an increase of 418.1 per cent over the prior year’s RM532.8 million and profit before tax (PBT) of RM230.3 million during the year compared with the previous year’s RM97.7 million.

Revenue and PBT for the year included that of the KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd (KFCH) group which became its subsidiary with effect from Jan 2, 2009.

In addition to its restaurant operations and retail activities, it is also extensively involved in breeder and contract broiler farming, hatchery and poultry production and processing, as well as a host of ancillary businesses including baking, commissary and sauce production.

This makes QSR Malaysia’s first and only fully-integrated food operator. With over 29,000 staff in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia and India, QSR is one of the biggest employers in its sector.

Meanwhile, Pizza Hut is also offering a special Mother’s Day promotion with their ‘Mommy Dearest Pizza’, a tasty creation that will touch any mother’s heart.

The pizza was specially designed in a heart-shaped pan crust topped with juicy pineapples, savoury chicken loaf and Masala chicken.

‘Mommy Dearest Pizza’ is available throughout the month of May, beginning May 9 and is priced at RM22 for ala carte orders and RM28.80 for the ‘Mommy Dearest Combo 1’ and RM39.90 for ‘Mommy Dearest Combo 2’ orders.
