KUCHING: Magnum’s Jackpot First Prize of RM11,246,612 was won on Tuesday by a contractor in his mid 50s from Selangor.The combination that won him the grand prize was 3980 + 8429.
The winner has been a loyal Magnum customer for over 30 years and has been playing the game on and off whenever he feels lucky or when a significant event happens in his life.
He was quoted as saying: “I have won 1st prize from Magnum before but my biggest win, before the Magnum 4D Jackpot was introduced last year, was when I bought the numbers for my son’s birth date and his birth certificate.”
When asked how he chose the winning numbers he explained that he had an eye sore that Tuesday so he went to the pharmacy to get something for his eye.
Before going home, he went into the Magnum 4D website and used the Treasure Chest feature to check on numbers related to eye sores and he found 3 numbers — 3980 (Eye Drops), 9585 (Eye Mo) and 8429 (Sore Eye). He went out again later that evening to buy the 3 numbers by placing a Magnum 4D Jackpot bet of System Bet 3 and paid RM6 for it. He only realised he won the Jackpot First prize the next morning as he was resting the night before.
He further stated: “I found out that I won the next day when I once again went into the Magnum 4D website to check on the draw results. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw my numbers appearing as the first prize and third prize. I thought that the eye sore was affecting my eye sight.”
The contractor will use a portion of the winnings to help his family members and close friends in their financial difficulties.

The Magnum 4D Jackpot 1st prize was also won recently on April 10, 2010. The amount won was RM11,140,586 and the winning combination was 1087 + 6935. The lucky winner was a Chinese man in his late 30s and he worked as a welder.
A loyal Magnum customer for over 10 years, he explained that he got the winning numbers from shopping receipts from goods that his mother bought that day. When asked what he would do with the money, he said he would buy a house as he had never owned a house as he was from a poor family and now that he had the means, he would ensure that his mother got her dream house.
