Jamir@Jawang Samah from Simunjan is charged with raping the three sisters, aged 13 to 16, in a house in Jalan Kulas Utara between February and March 7.

He appeared for further mention in the Session Court here yesterday.

The prosecution officer yesterday applied for a joint trial as the case would be heard in different court rooms for every charge.

He was placed on a RM15,000 bail with six sureties after he denied raping the siblings.

All charges came under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ jail with fine and caning.

If found guilty, he could be jailed up to 20 years as well as caned and fined.

The accused was reported to have been staying with the girls’ family for the past two months after their father left them in the care of their mother.

Police arrested Jamir on March 7 after reports were lodged by the sisters’ relatives.

Meanwhile, an Indian national charged with possessing 57.96 gm of Ketamine kept inside a television set during his visit to the country, was discharged and acquitted of the offence yesterday.

Judge Rhodzariah Bujang, in making the decision, said the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against him.

Mohd Sulaiman Sahulhammed was alleged to have committed the offence at Kuching International Airport where he was arrested upon his arrival.

Sahulhammeed was said to have arrived in the state through KIA,  and brought along with him a TV set where he allegedly kept the drugs packed in about 40 small plastic packets.

He was alleged to have smuggled the drug into the state through the airport on Feb 12 last year.
