En route to the final, Chan/Law whitewashed Malaysia’s Nur Izati Tajuddin/Nur Hazira Hamidon 6-0, 6-0 in the first round, than sent top seeds Devireddy Reddy Nayanika (India)/Delizavernne Kaur (Malaysia) packing with a similar score in the semi-finals.

Hong Kong are also sure of finishing as the champions or runners-up in the boys doubles contest when the top seeded pair of Lam Siu Chuen and Pak Ho Hin made short work of Joshua Liu of Singapore and Lam Chak Pong of Hong Kong, winning 6-3, 6-0 in the semi-finals.

They will either meet the winner of the other semi-final which was disrupted by rain at around 3.45pm yesterday at Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association centre along Jalan Crookshank.

The second seeds Li Ming Gang/Chueng Tik Chun of Hong Kong were leading the combination of Anthony Jackie Tang (Hong Kong) and Sanetulla Kutibaev (Uzbekistan) 7-5, 3-2 when the light shower forced play to stop. They will continue with the match today.

Meanwhile, it will be an all-Hong Kong final in the girls singles between second seed Maggie Ng and third seed Chan Tsz Ching.

While Chan had little trouble in dispatching her compatriot Law Wing Chun to the play-off for third/fourth placing in straight sets of 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-finals yesterday, Ng had to slog      for a three-set    win over Sarvinozhon Saidhujaeva of Uzbekistan.

The Hong Kong lass won the first set 6-4 but lost the second 2-6, forcing play into rubber set.

However, Ng won the decider 6-4 to meet Chan in the final.

Hong Kong boys were just as impressive in the boys singles contest with two players in the last four.

The other semi-finalist was eight seed Philippine’s Betto Daniele Orendain who disposed of Ahmad Faez Shamsuddin of Malaysia 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Top seed Li Ming Gang was simply too good for Issac Ong of Singapore, beating him 6-2, 6-1 while his compatriot Pak Ho Hin, seeded sixth, triumphed 6-4, 6-0 over second seed Lam Siu Chuen also from Hong Kong.

Pak will face Orendain in the last four today while Li takes on Joshua Liu of Singapore in the other semi-final after the Singaporean emerged a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Malaysia’s Low Zhe Han in the last eight.
