‘Respect those who lay foundation of devt’

ASAJAYA: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud hoped that current and future leaders could fully grasp the political struggles that established the foundation for present and future development.

He said only through good understanding of the struggles would the leaders and the people work harder to further develop the state.

“I have laid down a strong foundation for further development. I hope the present leaders could continue the struggle,” he said.

He also hoped that before he retired from politics, current and future leaders would work harder for the progress of the state.

The chief minister was giving a speech during a divisional-level ‘Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri’ at the Asajaya Sports Complex here yesterday.

He also urged the leaders to be sincere in their struggles as it could help bring about greater success.

He also noted that dynamic thinking could also contribute to significant changes and development.

On the development of the Malays who were considered poor in the past, he said it was the change in their mindset and attitude which have helped them boldly move forward.

Earlier on, Asajaya assemblyman Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, urged the people to continue supporting Taib to continue leading the state.

“We admit that the success and changes in the state were due to the dynamic leadership of the chief minister,” he said.

More than 2,000 villagers attended the gathering organised by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branches in Samarahan Division.

State Legislative Assembly Speaker Dato Sri Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, Assistant Minister of Resource Planning and Management Mohd Naroden Majais, Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Ali Mahmud, Sadong Jaya assemblyman Datuk Wan Wahab Sanusi and Sebuyau assemblyman Julaihi Narawi were also present at the gathering.
