Factory workers nip fire in bud

SANDAKAN: Swift action by a plywood factory’s own fire and rescue team saved the factory from further damage as fire destroyed one of its drier units yesterday.

District Fire and Rescue Services Separtment operation chief Rozali Mohd Awang Ahmad said his department received a distress call at 7.12am.
“We arrived on the scene at Batu Sapi at 7.30am, but the fire was put out by the factory’s own fire and rescue team,” he said.
Rozali said the department has yet to determine the the cause of the fire and losses.
