JULAU: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Pakan Youth has successfully organised a football, badminton and futsal events themed ‘Temasya Tertutup Pemuda SPDP N41’ in conjunction with Pesta Pakan 2010. The three sport events were held at Stadium Pakan in Julau.

SUCCESS: Robert (third left, back row) and Zubrisky (fourth left, back row) with the footballers during the closing ceremony of the SPDP Pakan Youth-organised sports carnival held in conjunction with Pesta Pakan 2010 at Stadium Pakan in Pakan, Julau last Sunday.

The football final was a high scoring match which was eventually won by Bansang FC after they thrashed Babai FC, 5-2.

SPDP Central Youth chairman Robert Ayu, his deputy Peter Ong Yii Boon and SPDP Pakan Youth Chief Zubrisky Bansang W. Mawan gave away the prizes for the football, badminton and futsal events respectively.

Due to the overwhelming response, the organising committee limited the entry for the football competition to only six teams, futsal (11), badminton singles (five) and badminton doubles (eight).

According to its press release yesterday, SPDP Pakan Youth is set to organise a sepak takraw tournament and ‘Sukaneka’ sports carnival.

“Those living in Pakan are invited to participate in these two events namely sepak takraw and ‘Sukaneka’. Participants are strictly open to residents of Pakan only,” the release said.

In his speech at the football final last Sunday here in Pakan, Robert said SPDP Youth Exco will give full support to any event involving youths like sporting events, seminar or workshop.

The Exco, he pointed out, has lined up programmes for youths in other SPDP constituencies with Ba Kelalan the next destination after Pakan.

They will also work together with the State BN Youth groups to organise a workshop which will be held end of October.
