Foreigner jailed over fake MyKad receipt

SANDAKAN:  The Magistrates Court here yesterday jailed a 50-year-old foreigner to six months in jail for possessing a false MyKad application receipt.

Ibrahim Bin Amin pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Izuddin Bin Mohd Shukri to committing the offence on October 1 at 3pm at Kg Kagayan.

He was prosecuted under Section 25(1)(E) of the National Registration Act 1990.

Deputy prosecution officer Dominic Chew Ban Huat told the court that the accused entered Sandakan legally in 1979.

He confessed that he obtained the false document through an unknown source.

The same court jailed a foreign woman 10 months for stealing electrical appliances from a shop at Batu 31, Checkpoint, Bandar Baru Sandakan.

Roslina Bte Barullah, 38, pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Izuddin Bin Mohd Shukri to committing the offence on September 27, 2010 at 2pm.

Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Hj Majari Bin Hj Awaljar told the court that the accused was arrested at Bandar Sibuga Jaya, Mile 8, and found stolen items bearing the price tag of Kedai Ismail Electronic in her car.
