KUCHING: A 36-year-old labourer will spend seven weeks behind bars after he pleaded guilty in the magistrates’ court to hurting his former wife early this month.
Kenon Suja admitted his guilt before magistrate Iris Awen Jon who convicted him under Section 323 of the Penal Code which provides for up to three years’ jail and fine.
He was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment and fined RM600, in default three weeks’ jail. He failed to pay the fine.
The father of two committed the offence about 1.45pm last Oct 1 inside his own house at Jalan Cenderawasih in Semariang.
Inspector Ahmad Ilias prosecuted while Kenon was not represented.
