Court fines six traffic offenders

KOTA KINABALU: Six local men were fined by the Traffic’s Court here yesterday for separate offences under the Road Transport Act and Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act.

Arjimin Titing, 42, was fined a total of RM1,500 in default six weeks in jail for driving a trailer Jipper/Dumper without a valid permit from the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board, with an expired road tax and without a Puspakom inspection certificate. He committed the offences along Jalan Penampang Lama – Lok Kawi here at 11.10am on Oct 9, 2009.

Abdul San Hakim, 27, was fined a total of RM300 in default four weeks in jail for driving his van with an expired road tax and no insurance coverage. The offences were committed at Jalan UMS at 10.40am on Sept 24, 2009. Mohd Azwan Mohd Harith, 32, Mohd Sullaiman Ahmad, 21, M Suardi Mas, 26, and Mohd Amin Sanggalang, 49, were fined RM200 each, in default two weeks in jail for driving their vehicles with an expired road tax.

Mohd Azwan and Mohd Amin had committed the offences along Jalan Penampang on Jan 12 and April 5 this year respectively, while Mohd Sullaiman and M Suardi were found to have committed the offences at Jalan Tuaran Bypass and Jalan Sepanggar on March 25 and Feb 1 respectively.

All of the accused pleaded guilty before magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus.

Mohd Noor Abdul Rahman from the Road Transport Department prosecuted the cases.
