Yeoh the first Malaysian to receive 2010 Oslo Business for Peace Award

KUCHING: The managing director of YTL Corporation Bhd (YTL), Tan Sri Datuk Dr Francis Yeoh Sock Ping became the first Malaysian to receive the prestigious 2010 Business for Peace Award at the fourth annual Oslo Summit.

The award recognises Yeoh for championing ethical and socially responsible business practices at home and around the world.

Under Francis Yeoh’s stewardship, the YTL group has grown from a single listed entity to become one of the largest corporations in Malaysia.

“Yeoh’s dedication to true corporate social responsibility is strongly driven by his personal convictions and his enlightened views on the relationship

between business and society,” said the chairman of the Business for Peace Foundation, Per Leif Saxegaard.

Under Yeoh’s leadership, YTL has grown into an international conglomerate that has pioneered numerous outstanding projects around the world, benefiting many communities and creating positive social change.

This includes the recent launch of the first ever nationwide 4G network that provides coverage for almost 60 per cent of Malaysia,

and the establishment of a high-speed railway in capital Kuala Lumpur.
