Human trafficking suspects remanded five more days

KUCHING: Three women suspected of involvement in human trafficking were yesterday ordered to be remanded for five  more days.

They appeared before magistrate Syafiza Abdul Razak Tready.

Initially they were placed on remand for seven days following their arrest on the night of Oct 20 at a budget hotel in Jalan Padungan here.

The arrest  followed a report lodged by a woman who claimed to be  a victim of human traffickers.

It was also reported that the suspects were pimps of the victim, who is a local.

The suspects  are expected to be produced in court again on Nov 1 when their remand order expires.

Human trafficking comes under Anti Trafficking in Persons Act 2007.
