Lee Long’s trial put off till Nov 15

SIBU: The Sessions Court yesterday adjourned till Nov 15 the trial of one Wong Leh Yin, or Lee Long, a purported gang leader.

Both the prosecutor Robert Alam Pasang and defence counsels Orlando Chua and Jacob Wong were unable to turn up as they were in Miri for another court case.

Wong, together with his seven cohorts, are facing eight criminal charges under the Penal Code.

The charges range from causing grievous hurt under Sections 324 and 325, to wrongful confinement under Section 365 and   gang robbery under Section 395.

Indicted together with Lee Long are Wee Teck Hong @ Ah Lek, 42, Yong Ching Lung @ Chi Lung, 24, Yong Kie Teck @ Noney, 39, Hii Chie Peng @ Tua Tao, 37, Lau Ang Ho @ Ang Ho, 32, Matthew Soong Chan Chen @ Matthew, 34, and Wong Kong Yew @ Monkey, 32.

Prime witness Kueh Chiow Huat, also known as Ah Huat, alleged he was beaten and tortured during his alleged  abduction by  the suspects  in February 2007.
