Posted on November 4, 2010, Thursday

SIBU: The police here are submitting a CCTV video footage on a shooting case last Tuesday afternoon outside a semi-detached house in Tun Ahmad Zaidi Edruce Road here for analysis.

A source said the police hoped this would help them identify the criminals.

From the footage, the police confirmed six men came on three motorcycles, but only one fired three pistol shots at the house of a pork seller.

The bullets hit a wall, the house owner’s car in the garage, and the master bedroom window.

It is learnt that the footage was not clear enough for the police to identify the criminals.

The plate numbers of the motorcycles used by the criminals were also not clear.

Hence, the police are now banking their hopes on the forensic analysis.

The facts of the case are still sketchy, but the police are hopeful as they approach it from different angles. The motive of the crime is not known.

The police have sought the help of the house owner and have worked out a few possibilities as to why the shooting occurred.

They now need to re-confirm the motive.

The shooting at 3pm occurred while seven persons were inside the house.

The owner was upstairs chatting with a friend while his three primary school children were tutored by a teacher downstairs.

A domestic maid was also on the ground floor.

Before the shooting, the owner’s friend was walking to a toilet in the master bedroom.

He heard a commotion outside, and one of the six criminals shouted in Hokkien, “Don’t think I don’t have a gun.”

The three shots were then heard.

The bullet that hit the window also hit the ceiling in the master bedroom.

The video clips show the first two shots were fired from the road and before the man holding the pistol climbed onto the fence to fire the last shot at the car in the garage.
