SIBU: Two Filipinas were each yesterday sentenced by the Sessions Court to one month’s jail for contravening their work permit.

Judge Dean Wayne Daly handed down the sentence after they admitted to the offence under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulation 1963.

Leah Cabote Cabaddo, 25, and Glenese Ann Gareda, 27, failed to comply with the condition in their work permit by working as guest relation officers (GRO) in a discotheque.

The permit allowed them to be singers in the discotheque.

According to the facts of the case, a police party led by ASP Yeoh Shyan Shyan raided the discotheque about 11pm on Nov 1.

They found two women from the Philippines having violated their work permits by working as GRO in the discotheque.

They were then serving a client in a room.

Dean also ordered them to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation after serving their sentences.
