SIBU: A soldier from Negeri Sembilan who had planned to go to Serian to celebrate the coming Hari Raya Haji with his fiancée died in a hit-and-run accident last Friday night.
HIT-AND-RUN: Shahfry’s bike being sent to the town’s police station.
The accident happened at an accident-prone area near his camp at Mile 14, Oya Road around 8pm.
Mohd Shahfry Idris, 24, was heading for his camp when a car rammed his motorcycle from behind, badly damaging the rear end of the bike. The impact threw Shahfry to the middle of the road.
His superior was told about the accident by another soldier who happened to pass by.
Shahfry who was sent to Sibu Hospital at 10.30pm succumbed to serious head injuries. The fall also fractured his left leg.
