Remain close to the govt, community advised

LIMBANG: The Chinese community must continue to play an active part in the government’s development agenda.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan said as Malaysia is a multi-racial country, active Chinese participation in its economy, education, social structure was vital to help push the country forward.

Officiating at the official opening of SJK (C) Yuh Hin here yesterday, Dr Chan reiterated that the government had always recognised the myriad of contributions from the Chinese community to make the country what it is today.

Touching on Chinese education, he said the government had always been very forthcoming by giving a helping hand.

“Whenever we face problems related to Chinese education, the government would make effort to help us look for effective solutions.

“Thus, we must continue to work closely with the government,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the chairman of SJK (C) Yuh Hin’s Board of Directors, Bong Tze Kong, thanked SUPP for their assistance in the school’s development. Bong told those present that the first phase of the school’s construction was completed in October 2008. It comprised a three-storey classroom building, a car park and a canteen.

The second phase boasts, among others, a kindergarten, a multipurpose hall, library, meeting room and resource centre.
