KUCHING: Eighteen candidates have been selected to enter the final of Miss Borneo Beautiful 2010, organised by Alaric’s Productions Company for the second consecutive year in Sarawak.
The final is scheduled to be held at Riverside Majestic Hotel here on Nov 27, from 7pm.
The finalists include Angelica De Rozaria, 22, mixed Eurasian and Bidayuh from Kuching; Natasha Charmaine Rickson, 19, mixed Iban and Bidayuh from Kuching; Joelene Salut Derios, 21, Lunbawang from Miri; Lovita Cellinny Lindang, 25, Bidayuh from Kuching; Syatila Malik, 18, Malay from Kuching; Fiona Chan Li En, 18, mixed Chinese and Kenyah from Bintulu and Rosalind Sajah Robert, 22, Iban from Kuching.
Others are Gven George, 19, Kenyah from Miri; Nurufarahin Sukeman, 18, Malay from Kuching; Genevie Wan Anyie, 23, Kayan from Miri; Elyvenner Melaya Mau, 18, Iban from Bintulu; Adeline Anong, 24, mixed Kayan and Iban from Bintulu, Debra Robert, 17, mixed Bidayuh and Kenyah from Miri; Anthea Tessa Alvin Nagum, 21, Bidayuh from Serian; Teresa Lee Siew Chen, 18, mixed Chinese and Iban from Kuching; Corry Angking, 19, Iban from Sibu; Rozeiella Napia, 21, Malay from Serian and last but not least, Phoebe Supang JB Woodford, who is a 19 year old Eurasian/Kelabit and hails from Miri.
“The finalists will parade in four rounds, with rounds consisting of; self introduction in themewear, trendy wear, talent performance, and cocktail wear with questions and answers,” said organiser Alaric Soh.
He said that the final night stage performances this year would be more entertaining, spectacular and exciting.
“An award winning magician from Kuala Lumpur will perform for the opening act, where he will magically make all 18 finalists appear on stage.
“Besides that, there will be many other interesting new acts never shown before in Kuching.
“I think I’d better not reveal too much, otherwise I will kill the suspense,” he said.
The cash prizes for Miss Borneo Beautiful 2010 are: The Miss Borneo Beautiful queen will receive RM5,000; first runner-up RM3,000; second runner-up RM2,000; third runner-up RM1,000 while fourth runner-up RM800.
Subsidiary titles consisting of Miss Talent, Miss Friendship, Miss Photogenic and Miss Personality are also up for grabs, with winners receiving RM500.
Finalists who do not win any of the titles will receive RM300 as a token for participating.
First and second runner-ups in the pageant will get opportunities to take up the one-year course in hospitality and tourism (either part-time or full-time), which leads to an Executive Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, at UCSI University Sarawak Campus.
The university fees for the new Miss Borneo Beautiful 2010 is worth RM11,000, which will be fully sponsored.
The first runner-up will get a part sponsorship, that is 50 per cent discount worth RM5,500 while part sponsorship of 30 per cent of the fee (RM3,300) is accorded to the second runner-up.
