Malaysia, Brunei conduct joint naval exercise

KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) and the Royal Brunei Navy (TLDB) are currently conducting a joint exercise to foster cooperation between the two navies in defending their maritime waters.

The exercise was officiated on Monday by Submarine Commanding Officer First Admiral Mohd Rosland Omar dubbed ‘Exercise Hornbill 20/10’. It is conducted in three phases on the South China Sea from Nov 22 to 29.

The exercise is aimed at strengthening the diplomatic ties between both countries and to share their experience to strengthen war procedures and tactics at sea.

The exercise involves more than 500 officers and personnel from TLDM, TLDB and TUDM supported by four warships and three aircrafts.

TLDM’s Navy Commander of Region Two First Admiral Datuk Anuwi Hassan is the exercise commanding officer.
