Four trafficking suspects held, RM17,300 heroin and syabu seized

KOTA KINABALU: Two drug trafficking syndicates have been crippled by police with the arrest of four suspects at a courier service office in Penampang and a mini post office in Menggatal.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamzah Taib, who disclosed this yesterday, said 51.5 grams of syabu and 24.7 grams of heroin, valued at a total of RM17,300, were also seized in the two raids.

The first raid was carried out on Dec 8 when a man was arrested and 51.5 grams of syabu was seized at the courier service office in Penampang .

The three other suspects were arrested on Dec 10 at the Mengattal mini post office with 24.7 grams of heroin, Hamzah told a press conference at the State Police Headquarters in Kepayan yesterday.

Also present were State Narcotics Police chief Supt Rahim Dolmat and Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Soh Hock Sing.

Hamzah said both raids were carried out following tip-offs from the public and the cases are investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
