KOTA KINABALU: District officers are part of the machinery that implement government policies and programs.

“You have the responsibility to animate, update and strengthen the delivery system at all levels. I have full confidence that all of you as the frontliners of the civil service will be able to help the government realize its programs and plans,” Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.

When officiating the state-level district officer’s conference here yesterday, Musa in his speech which was delivered by Rural Development Minister Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin, also reminded the civil service to be transparent and honest when carrying out their duties.

Civil servants, he said, must realise the importance of making integrity and accountability a work culture as this is in line with the government having a civil service which was efficient and trustworthy.

According to him further, the district office’s role is very significant in administration and running of all services at the district and grassroot levels as they had been doing this even before independence.

“District offices are the symbols of the government and the focal point in resolving problems, especially in the rural areas,” he said.

Musa also pointed out that in line with the development of a place, the role and responsibility of district officers had also changed from various perspectives and dimensions.

“All the changes are aimed at providing positive impact through the implementation of development programs and a delivery system which focuses on matters that are important to the people,” he stressed.
