Retain BN to enjoy more progress — Talib

BINTULU: It is only fair to retain the Barisan Nasional (BN) as the government because the coalition has proven to have taken care of the people’s welfare, Tourism Assistant Minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip said.

FOOD AID: Talib presents the food aid to a recipient.

He said the BN government was concerned about helping the people from the lower income group to move out of poverty.

He added that the government provided assistance to everyone regardless of race or religion.

“A caring government is a good government. Don’t forget what the BN government has done when casting your votes during the election.

“Of course, I speak as if I’m campaigning, but then again the next state election could be held at any time,” he said at the presentation of food aid under the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) here.

Talib, who is Jepak assemblyman, said the BN had fulfilled its responsibilities towards the people and this could be seen from the rapid development taking place now.

According to him, rapid development means the BN has been a good government in Sarawak.

“The natural resources are managed properly. Bear in mind that no matter how much natural resources a country has, it will not develop the economy if not managed properly,” he stressed.

He urged the public not to be influenced by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) which aspired to take over from the BN government.

“PR is only good in talking, while the BN can show evidence that it is capable of carrying out development for the betterment of the people. You certainly know who should be voted in based on this comparison.

“During campaigns, PR promises all sorts of things. But after election, there is nothing done for the people,” he added.

In the event organised by the Bintulu Welfare Department, Talib handed over assistance in the form of nutritious food to 208 selected recipients.

He also presented school uniforms to 65 students from six schools in Bintulu.

Assistant director of the Bintulu Welfare Department Awangku Mohd Najib Awang Muhammad was among those present.
